Tennessee Updates Workers’ Comp Claim Rules
The Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation has filed new rules that take effect November 10, 2025. These updates focus on how workers’ comp claims are reported, investigated, and paid. Here are the key points in plain English:
- Faster Communication – Adjusters must contact injured workers and employers within 2 business days after an injury is reported.
- Clearer Claim Reporting – Employers and insurance carriers must file injury reports electronically (EDI) and provide injured workers with written information about their rights.
- Timely Benefits – Disability payments must start within 15 days of an injury and continue on schedule. Funeral and death benefits must be paid within 30 days.
- Accountability – Failure to follow the rules (such as late filings or late payments) can result in penalties. The Bureau will actively monitor adjusters and insurers.
- Transparency – All claim settlements and resolutions must be reported to the Bureau, and data must be complete and accurate.
- Medical Access – Employers and insurers must quickly authorize medical care and provide accurate information to workers and providers.
Why This Matters: For employers, these rules mean tighter deadlines and more responsibility for accurate reporting and timely payments. For workers, it means faster communication, clearer rights, and fewer delays in getting benefits and medical treatment after an injury.

Coffee Break: A Daily Ritual, and an Occasional Indulgence at Status Dough by Amanda Beddingfield, Office Manager
For me, coffee isn’t just part of the day, it is the day. My go-to is a simple, no-nonsense black coffee. It's how I center myself before the day kicks into gear and how I reset when the afternoon slump hits, coffee is a daily ritual I never skip. Sometimes, I treat myself to a smooth, velvety flat white, which, paired with an old-fashioned doughnut, is a combo that never disappoints. Knoxville has no shortage of coffee and doughnut shops, but my favorite place to enjoy this is the locally owned Status Dough. If you haven’t been to Status Dough, I definitely recommend trying the coffee flavored old-fashioned doughnut too, just get there early before they sell out! So, while black coffee gets me through the everyday, on the days I want something extra? The flat white and old-fashioned doughnut are the highlight.
The Case of the Curious Laws
Which of the following muscle cars was the first to be officially marketed as a "muscle car" and is widely credited with starting the muscle car era? |
Paw & Order |
This is Maddie, she is a 1-year-old Biewer Terrier with a big personality and absolutely no chill when it comes to getting what she wants. She’s the self-appointed enforcer of household order, doing her best to keep my three kids in line, usually with dramatic barks or by flaunting their toys, which she knows she’s not supposed to have, as leverage. Her favorite things include treats, belly rubs, and fetch, but her true passion? Toilet paper theft. Leave the bathroom door open, and she’s in and out like a ninja, leaving behind a trail of shredded paper and zero remorse.
